Jonas Wacker is a PhD student in Bayesian Machine Learning under the supervision of Prof. Maurizio Filippone. His research focuses on extending probabilistic deep learning frameworks to model deep kernels and deal with non-differentiable objectives. He applies his work to a novel optical hardware called Optical Processing Unit developed by LightOn (http://lighton.ai).

Jonas Wacker was born in Frankfurt/Main, Germany in 1991. He received his BSc degree in Computer Science and Economics from Technische Universität Darmstadt in 2016 and he completed his MSc degree in Data Science at EURECOM in France in 2018. Before starting his PhD, Jonas completed a research internship in Computer Vision and Deep Learning at University of Brasilia (UnB) in Brasil.
